Snowshoe Trails
Summit Loop Thorhöhe (1.533 m) and Windkogel (1.546 m)
- Starting Point: Parkplatz 3
- Difficulty: leicht
- Trail Length: 7 km | Walking Time: Approx. 3 hours
Route Description
A family-friendly snowshoe trail with stunning views and rewarding stopover options.
- Einstieg: Vom Parkplatz beim Schranken rechts – nördliche Richtung
- Weg zu den Wiesleralmen: Präparierter Wanderweg führt zur ersten Etappe.
- Abzweigung Thorhöhe: Bei den Hütten rechts (östlich) der Beschilderung folgen.
- Aufstieg: Rund 1 Stunde leicht ansteigend bis zum Gipfel der Thorhöhe – Panoramablick auf umliegende Berge und Tennengebirge inklusive.
- Weiter zum Windkogel: Entlang des Bergkamms (ca. 20-30 Minuten), beeindruckendes Gipfelkreuz und spektakuläre Aussicht auf den Wolfgangsee.
- Rückweg: Querfeldein oder über Forststraßen zurück über die Wiesleralm zum Ausgangspunkt.
- Einkehrmöglichkeiten: Wieslerhütte, Schafbergblickhütte – Öffnungszeiten vorab prüfen!
Snowshoe Trail Labenberg (1,642 m)
- Starting Point: Parkplatz 1 beim Lienbachhof.
- Difficulty: Anspruchsvoll – für erfahrene Schneeschuhwanderer.
- Trail Length: 9 km | Elevation Gain ca. 540 | Walking Time: ca. 3,5 Stunden
Route Description
A challenging snowshoe route that offers breathtaking winter landscapes and impressive panoramic views. Perfect for those seeking a sporty adventure!
- Entry Point: From the parking lot, follow the groomed winter hiking trail to the right of the ski slope (Lift 1, westward direction) until you reach the Rosser Hut (approx. 20 minutes).
- Ascent to Labenbergalm: Ascent to Labenbergalm: Across the open alpine meadows of Innerlienbachalm, through sparse forest, and further over a high alpine pasture. After about an hour, you will reach Labenbergalm (operated in summer).
- To the Summit: To the Summit: From Labenbergalm, keep left (southern direction). A steep ascent via the Labenberg saddle (approx. 30 minutes) leads to the summit of Labenberg.
- Summit Experience: Stunning views of the Dachstein and the Gosau Gorge.
- Return Route: Follow the same route back – with a rewarding break at the Rosser Hut.
Snowshoe Hike to Wieslerhorn (1,603 m)
- Starting Point: Parkplatz 3
- Difficulty: Mittel – Trittsicherheit erforderlich.
- Weglänge: 7 km | Gehzeit: ca. 2,5 Stunden.
Route Description
A varied tour with relaxed sections, a challenging ascent, and spectacular views – ideal for winter hikers with some experience.
- Entry Point: From Parking Lot 3, a groomed winter hiking trail leads into the landscape after the barrier.
- Wiesler HutAfter about 15 minutes, you will reach the rustic Wieslerhütte. It is only occasionally open in winter – be sure to check the opening hours in advance!
- Schafbergblick HutAnother 15 minutes ahead, a larger hut with a sun terrace and homemade specialties invites you to take a break.
- Wieslerhorn JunctionBehind the hut, the hiking trail to the left leads back toward the ski area, while you turn right toward Wieslerhorn.
- Ascent to the SummitContinue with snowshoes across alpine meadows. After about 30 minutes, the trail becomes steeper, leading through the forest and along the ridge to the exposed summit.
- Summit ExperienceA breathtaking 360° view of the Salzkammergut mountains rewards the ascent.
- Return Route: Follow the same route back to the parking lot.

FAQ about Snowshoe Hiking on the Postalm
Which ticket do I need for snowshoe hiking?
For snowshoe hiking, you need the "Winter Hiking" ticket. This includes the use of the high-altitude road (please note the different regulations if you are coming from Abtenau – more information can be found on the "Directions" page), parking, access to the groomed winter hiking trails, the natural toboggan run, and a lift ride with attached winter sports equipment. Children under 6 years old ride for free. If you are coming via Strobl, we recommend purchasing your ticket online. This will allow you to easily pass the toll barrier and save time. If you are coming via Abtenau or wish to take advantage of the discounted afternoon rate, please purchase your ticket on-site.
How much does snowshoe hiking on the Postalm cost?
The Postalm is accessible via two mountain roads with different toll regulations. Therefore, the costs vary depending on which side you come from. If you're coming from Strobl, the toll is included in the Winter Park Ticket. If you're coming from Abtenau, you can have the toll fees (up to €5 per person, max. €10 per car) refunded when purchasing the Winter Park Ticket at the Winter Park ticket office.

Toll fees for ascent via Abtenau: The toll fee is €17 per car, payable at the toll station. At the Postalm ticket office, when purchasing your Winter Park ticket, you will receive: Up to €5 per person (maximum €10 per vehicle) If you show the toll receipt.
What else can I do on the Postalm with a snowshoeing/winter hiking ticket?
The ticket is valid for the lift-free infrastructure of the Postalm Winter Park: parking, groomed winter hiking trails, and the natural toboggan run.
Included is: One lift ride with attached winter sports equipment, e.g., for ski tourers.
Not included are: Ski lifts and cross-country ski trails.
Prices valid for the winter season from December 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. All listed prices are in euros and include 10% VAT. Subject to printing and typographical errors.
